
DHAKA, May 2, 2026 (BSS) – Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury has reconstituted committees for monitoring subordinate courts across eight divisions of the country.
The Supreme Court administration issued a notification in this regard on April 27.
According to the notification, the Chief Justice has formed 13 separate “Monitoring Committees for Subordinate Courts” covering the eight divisions and assigned one High Court Division judge to each committee, in accordance with The Supreme Court of Bangladesh (High Court Division ) Rules, 1973.
At the same time, 13 judicial officers have also been entrusted with the responsibility of providing secretarial support to the committees.
High Court Division Justice Md Habibul Gani has been given the charge of monitoring courts in Rajshahi-2 Division (Bogra, Joypurhat, Pabna, Sirajganj), while Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain will oversee Barishal Division (Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna).
Justice JBM Hassan has been assigned Dhaka-1 Division (Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Tangail), and Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah will oversee Khulna-1 Division (Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore, Narail).
Justice Zafar Ahmed has been tasked with Khulna-2 Division (Kushtia, Meherpur, Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, Magura), while Justice Razik-Al-Jalil will monitor Mymensingh Division (Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona).
Justice Fatema Najib has been assigned Dhaka-2 Division (Kishoreganj, Faridpur, Rajbari, Gopalganj, Shariatpur, Madaripur).
Justice S M Kuddus Zaman will monitor Chattogram-1 Division (Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachhari), while Justice Sashanka Shekhar Sarkar has been assigned Rangpur-1 Division (Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat).
Justice Ahmed Sohel will oversee Chattogram-2 Division (Noakhali, Feni, Lakshmipur, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria, Chandpur), Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir will monitor Rajshahi-1 Division (Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Natore),
Justice KM Hafizul Alam has been assigned Rangpur-2 Division (Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari), and Justice Md Atabullah will oversee Sylhet Division (Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj).
Earlier, on January 27, 2022, the Supreme Court administration assigned eight High Court Division judges to monitor subordinate courts in the country’s eight administrative divisions. The number of judges was later increased to 13 in October 2023.
The monitoring committees were reconstituted on April 12, 2025, and have now been restructured again following the latest decision of the Chief Justice.
