
DHAKA, May 3, 2026 (BSS) - The mortal remains of Bangladeshi student Jamil Ahmed Limon, who was killed in Tampa, have been sent to Bangladesh from Orlando International Airport after completion of all legal formalities.
According to an official foreign ministry's statement, Limon's body was dispatched from Orlando International Airport on the evening of May 2.
Bangladesh Consul General in Miami Sehely Sabrin and Consul Thoing A remained present at the airport and supervised the entire repatriation process.
The body is expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:40am on May 4 via Dubai.
Following the recovery of Limon's body on April 25, the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Bangladesh Consulate General in Miami, in coordination with the victim's family, authorities of University of South Florida, local expatriate Bangladeshis in Tampa and the relevant police department, completed all local legal procedures and took steps for the earliest possible repatriation.
Limon's funeral prayers were held on April 30 after Zuhr prayers at the Islamic Society of Tampa Bay Area Mosque.
Students of the University of South Florida, family members, consular officials, media representatives and local expatriate Bangladeshis attended the janaza.
Meanwhile, after the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office confirmed the identification of the body of another Bangladeshi student, Nahida Sultana Bristy, on May 1, the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami obtained consent from her family and requested the Pinellas County Medical Examiner to release the body to the same funeral home for repatriation.
Officials said the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Bangladesh Consulate General in Miami are working jointly to send Bristy's body home at the earliest possible time.
