Uttara road crash kills sweater factory worker

DHAKA, May 10, 2026 (BSS) - A youth was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road in front of APBN Police Headquarters in Uttara of the capital late Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Nure Alam, a sweater factory worker, son of Erfan Molla, who hailed from Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur district.
Currently living in a rented house in Uttara.

The accident occurred around 1:45am, police and local sources said.

The critically injured youth was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 3:45am.

According to family members, locals informed them using the victim's mobile phone after the reckless vehicle struck him while he was returning home from work.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body has been kept at the morgue for autopsy and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station.
