MPs of Gopalganj district hold meeting with local govt division

DHAKA, May 10, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Gopalganj district today held a meeting with the Local Government Division on the overall development activities of the district, including its local government institutions.

The meeting was held at the conference room of the Local Government Division at the Secretariat, said a press release here.

In the absence of State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, Secretary of the Local Government Division Md. Shahidul Hasan presided over the meeting.

The MPs from Gopalganj-1, 2, and 3 constituencies F E Sharifuzzaman Jahangir, K M Babar and S M Jilani respectively were present at the meeting. The MPs highlighted the development needs of their respective areas and expressed their expectation of full cooperation from the ministry for the speedy implementation of the related projects.

Speaking at the meeting, the Secretary said, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had announced that Gopalganj would be brought under development with equal importance as other districts of the country. As part of implementing that goal, the meeting was organized to review the district’s ongoing development activities and discuss future plans.

During the meeting, the progress of various ongoing projects and existing challenges were presented in detail. Based on the discussions, the Secretary advised making necessary changes to ensure that project implementation becomes more dynamic, effective, and timely.

Director General of the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Inspection Wing Md. Mahmudul Hasan; Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department Md. Belal Hossain; Chief Engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering Md. Abdul Awal; Executive Engineer of LGED in Gopalganj district Md. Ehsanul Haque; and directors of various ongoing projects in Gopalganj district were present in the meeting.
