DHAKA, May 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Police Headquarters in a statement today called incorrect the recent reports published in several media outlets, quoting a senior Bangladesh Police official saying that "the police medal gazette could not be issued due to the President's foreign visit,".

It also claimed that no responsible official of Bangladesh Police made such a statement.

"The remarks attributed to the police official in the reports are baseless and misleading," said the statement.

In fact, the necessary administrative and procedural activities related to the issuance of the police medal gazette are currently underway, it added.

"Before any official decision or gazette notification is issued, publishing speculative statements by quoting officials in this manner may create confusion among the public," read the statement.

The media is therefore requested to verify information properly before publishing such reports, it added.

The President’s Press Wing stated that no file or summary relating to the issuance or approval of police medal matters was available or sent to the President for disposal.

It further said that several files from different ministries were approved and digitally signed by the President from London yesterday(Saturday).

It added that, in the era of modern digital technology, files can be signed from anywhere in the world through e-filing or other digital means.
