DHAKA, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today framed charges against former lawmaker Shamim Osman and 11 others in a case crimes against humanity over alleged atrocities committed in Narayanganj during the July Mass Uprising.

The tribunal passed the order this morning and fixed June 10 for the prosecution's opening statement and the recording of witness depositions.

All the accused are currently absconding and are being tried in absentia. The tribunal has appointed state defence counsels to represent the fugitives.

The prosecution on April 19 concluded its hearing, alleging that Shamim Osman and his associates were involved in crimes in which 10 people were killed in the Fatullah and Signboard areas of Narayanganj on July 19, July 21 and August 5, 2024.

The other accused are Shamim's son Ayan Osman, nephew Azmeri Osman, Ayan's brother-in-law Minhaj Uddin Ahmed Diki, Shamim's brother-in-law Tanvir Ahmed Titu, and Raju Ahmed, Abdul Karim Babu, Kamrul Hasan Munna, Shah Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Shahdat Hossain Saju, Habibur Rahman Riad and Sohanur Rahman Shuvra.

Earlier, on January 19, 2026, the prosecution submitted the formal charges in the case. After taking the charges into cognisance, the tribunal issued arrest warrants against the accused.
