Three remanded over attack on Shah Ali shrine

DHAKA, May 17, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today placed three people on a two-day remand each in a case lodged over an attack on the shrine of Hazrat Shah Ali in the capital’s Mirpur on May 14.
  
The three accused are Md Azam, Sheikh Md Sajjadul Haque Russel, and Arman Dewan.
  
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to place them on a three-day remand each in the case.
  
A group of unidentified people attacked and vandalised the shrine during a weekly urs on Thursday, injuring a couple of devotees. The case was filed on May 16.
