Special drives to continue for safe, peaceful Dhaka: DMP Commissioner

DHAKA, June 4, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed today said special drives would continue to maintain peace and security in the capital. 

He made this remark while speaking at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre, a DMP press release said.

The DMP Commissioner said, "With everyone's cooperation, no major accident, sabotage or terrorist activity took place in the capital during the Eid holiday period." 

He said that all units of the DMP worked tirelessly to ensure security at cattle markets, bus and launch terminals, railway stations, shopping malls, financial and commercial institutions, Eid prayer grounds, residential areas and vacant houses.

According to the press release, DMP operational units conducted special drives between May 1 and June 2 and arrested 2,844 people, including 658 alleged extortionists, 971 robbers, dacoits and other criminals, and 1,215 drug dealers.
