Rail link to and from Ctg resumes after one and a half hours

CHATTOGRAM, June 7, 2026 (BSS): A pickup truck loaded with sand was crushed today after being struck by Sylhet bound train 'Paharika Express'   which was departing from Chattogram. 
 
Rail services from Chattogram with the rest of the country were halted for approximately one and a half hours following the accident . 

The accident took place at 9 am today , in the Sonapahar Darbartila region of Zorarganj union, located in Mirsarai Upazila of the district. 
 
Reports indicate that the truck, which was transporting sand, was crushed by the train while attempting to cross railway crossing.  

Approximately one and a half hours later, the pickup truck involved in the accident was retrieved with the assistance from both highway and railway police  . 
 
Train passenger Sajjad Hossain recounted that they were travelling from Chattogram to Sylhet when the train abruptly halted with a loud noise upon reaching the Zorarganj area. He later witnessed the aftermath of the accident. 

Chinki Astana Railway Station manager Golam Sarwar confirmed that a pickup truck was illegally traversing  the railway crossing when it collided with the train around 9 am. 

The pickup truck was severely smashed, and a door of the train sustained damage during the accident. 

He further stated that after around  one and half hours , rail communications  from Chattogram with the rest of the country were restored
