Govt provides TK 3 lakh aid to folk artiste Laily Baul

DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today handed over a cheque of TK  3,00,000 financial assistance to Laily Baul at his office here in recognition for her exceptional talent and to support her artistic journey. 

Recently her soulful voice captivated audiences across social media which came to knowledge of the ministry, said an official handout.
On the occasion, Laily performed traditional Baul and folk songs on the occasion.
 
Captivated by the authentic melodies and her powerful rendition, the minister highly praised her talent, stating that true talents are resilient as they manifest themselves by overcoming all adversities, much like our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. 

“Our indigenous culture and Baul songs are the soul of this nation. It is our core responsibility to recognize such hidden talents from marginal communities and stand beside them,” said the minister.

Secretary of the Ministry Kaniz Moula along with senior officials from the ministry and representatives from the media were present at the event. 

The ministry continues to dedicatedly work towards the welfare of the nation’s art, culture, and artists and remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting grassroots folk artists who preserve the rich heritage of Bengali folk music, said the handout.
