DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Twenty five students from various universities across 15 countries have recently visited production operations of Meghna Ceramic Industries Limited (MCIL), an enterprise of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), for an on-the-ground inspection.
The student delegation came to Bangladesh to participate in the 'Get Engaged: Student Action and Youth Leadership Conference 2026,' organized by BRAC University.
Senior MCIL officials welcomed the students and provided them with an overview of the organization's operations, long-term plans and sustainable development strategies.
During the visit, the students were informed about the six main pillars of MCIL's sustainable development strategy. These are reducing dependence on groundwater to zero and implementing a closed-loop hydrology system, operating emission-free kilns, advanced thermal management, ensuring a dust-free working environment, using renewable energy and maximizing the use of natural light.
Alena Maslova, a student from ASSB Smolny Beyond Borders University in Kyrgyzstan, said, "This visit showed us how the concept of sustainable development can be integrated with industrial operations. MGI's initiatives in water recycling, dust control and renewable energy were inspiring and educational."
"Alongside environmental responsibility, the emphasis on creating opportunities for local communities here has also been significant," said Grace Awad, a student from Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences (AQB) in Palestine.
