RMP issues guidelines for Holy Ashura

RAJSHAHI, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has issued a set of directives to ensure the peaceful observance of Holy Ashura on June 26 with due dignity and religious solemnity.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, RMP stated that in the interest of maintaining peace and order in the city on the occasion of Holy Ashura, the use of fireworks, firecrackers, and other harmful materials will be prohibited in the Rajshahi metropolitan area on the day.
 
The notice also said carrying weapons, including swords, spears, firearms, daggers, sticks, explosives and other dangerous objects, will not be allowed.

Participants in Tazia and mourning processions will not be allowed to carry sharp weapons or potentially dangerous items, including machetes, knives, scissors and lances. Carrying bags, bundles, excessively tall flags and metal objects that may cause electrical accidents will also be prohibited. Paik processions have been banned.
 
The public notice further stated that the use of microphones and speakers at excessively high volumes that may cause public nuisance or disturbance is also banned.
 
RMP has warned that legal action will be taken under existing laws against anyone found violating the directives.
