MAGURA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - Authorities have set a target to administer Vitamin A capsules to 129,675 children aged between six and 59 months across the district under the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2026.

Of them, 14,369 children aged between six and 11 months will receive blue capsules, while 115,306 children aged between 12 and 59 months will be given high-potency red Vitamin A capsules.

The information was disclosed at an orientation and planning meeting held at the Civil Surgeon Office here this morning.

The Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) and the Civil Surgeon Office jointly organized the programme to review preparations for the campaign.

To implement the programme, a total of 941 centres, including four permanent centres, 936 outreach centres and one additional centre, have been set up across the district. Around 1,999 field workers and volunteers, along with 117 supervisors, will be engaged in the campaign.

The meeting was informed that extensive publicity and awareness campaigns would be conducted through the District Information Office and various social organizations to encourage participation.

Speaking at the meeting, Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shamim Kabir said, "We are determined to ensure that not a single child is left behind, particularly those in remote and underprivileged areas of Magura. Our workers and volunteers at all 941 centres are fully prepared. With the cooperation of parents and civil society, we hope to achieve 100 percent success in the campaign."

Md Imtiaz Hossain, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division at the Magura Deputy Commissioner's Office, emphasized the importance of field-level coordination.

He assured that the local government administration would provide all necessary administrative and logistical support to the Civil Surgeon Office for the successful implementation of the national programme.

"I earnestly urge all conscious parents in Magura to take their children to the nearest centres on the scheduled day and not be misled by any rumours or misinformation," he added.

Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon Office Dr Debapriya Sarkar moderated the meeting, which was attended by officials of different government and non-government organizations.
