406 held in 24-hour crackdown across Dhaka

DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 406 people in raids across the capital during the past 24 hours and filed 47 cases as part of its regular anti-crime operations.

The arrests included 25 suspects from the Ramna Division, 30 from Lalbagh, 53 from Wari, 40 from Motijheel, 66 from Tejgaon, 116 from Mirpur, 31 from Gulshan, 39 from Uttara and six by the Detective Branch, police said on Saturday. 

During the operations, police seized 21,622 yaba tablet, 961 bottles of phensedyl, 17.5 litres of locally made liquor, 760 grams of cannabis and 13 grams of heroin.

Police also recovered a pick-up truck, a private car, eight mobile phones, a hammer, two machetes, a cleaver, an axe, a shovel, a knife and Tk 309,000 in cash.

The raids were carried out in different police station areas across the capital as part of the DMP's ongoing drive against crime, illegal weapons and narcotics.

Police said legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
