DMP files 2,239 cases for traffic rule violations

DHAKA, July 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,239 cases against motorists for violating traffic rules across the capital during the last 24 hours.

According to the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division, traffic police carried out enforcement drives across different parts of Dhaka until 6:00 pm on Tuesday to improve road discipline and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

During the drive, police dumped 573 motor vehicles and towed away 228 others for various traffic violations.

Among the cases filed, 101 were recorded in the Ramna Traffic Division, 224 in Lalbagh, 231 in Motijheel, 528 in Wari, 409 in Tejgaon, 328 in Mirpur, 181 in Uttara, and 237 in Gulshan.

The DMP said such enforcement drives will continue regularly to enhance road safety, reduce traffic congestion and encourage motorists to follow traffic laws.
