26 arrested in Uttara West, Turag

DHAKA, July 15, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 26 people during separate special operations conducted in the Uttara West and Turag police station areas of the capital as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and maintain law and order on Tuesday.

According to a police press release, the arrestees were detained in connection with regular criminal cases, outstanding arrest warrants and other alleged criminal activities.

In Uttara West, police arrested 16 suspects during raids carried out across the area. Those arrested include Md Sohel Rana Howlader, 26, Chanchal Shaharia, 25, Md Fahim Hossain, 23, Swad Hossain, 22, Md Mazharul Islam, 25, Tanzim, 19, Md Tanvir Siraji, 41, Md Nizam, 24, Md Shamim Ahmed, 19, Arman Shah, 24, Md Fahim Mia, 19,, Md Hridoy, 19, Md Ratul, 19, Shah Alam, 23, Md Mamun Sheikh, 35 and Aminul Sheikh, 40.

Meanwhile, Turag police arrested 10 people during a separate special drive conducted in several crime-prone areas. The arrestees are Md Mamun, 30, Bishnu Chandra Roy, 25, Md Rifat Ali, 19, Azmain, 20, Md Saiful Islam, 30, Imam Hossain Rabbi, 20, Md Naeem, 20, Md Masud, 37, Rehena, 50 and Ibrahim, 55.

Police said the special operations are part of an ongoing campaign to strengthen public safety, maintain law and order, and prevent criminal activities. 

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway.
