DHAKA, July 15, 2026 (BSS) – Overall flood situation has improved in eight districts in the country's southeastern and northeastern regions.

According to reports sent by district and  upazila information offices under the Department of Mass Communication and regional offices of the Department of Information, the recent floods caused by heavy rainfall and hill torrents affected a large number of people, said a PID handout.

"However, floodwaters have started receding and the overall situation is expected to improve significantly within the next two to three days. The government has undertaken rehabilitation programmes for the affected areas," it said.

The reports said the relevant offices and agencies have continued awareness campaigns on flash floods, landslides, hill collapses and other natural disasters.

According to the latest report from the Chattogram District Information Office, water levels in the district have receded.

Rail services have remained normal since 2 pm on July 12 while water transport on the Sitakunda-Sandwip route is also operating normally.
