DHAKA, July 21, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today conducted a special drive against illegal hydraulic horns, unauthorized hooters and other excessive noise-producing devices in a bid to curb noise pollution and promote road safety awareness.
The operation was led by DMP Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Anisur Rahman at Manik Mia Avenue, adjacent to the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, at around 10:30 in the morning.
During the drive, he instructed officials to take legal action against vehicles fitted with illegal hydraulic horns, unauthorized hooters and other devices that create excessive noise.
He also urged vehicle owners and drivers to refrain from unnecessary horns and raised awareness about the harmful effects of noise pollution on public health and the environment.
The Additional Commissioner said noise pollution poses a serious threat to public health, the environment and urban life.
He noted that the DMP has launched a week-long special campaign across the capital to reduce noise pollution and called on all motorists to comply with traffic laws and avoid unnecessary horn use.
According to the DMP Traffic Division, such enforcement drives will continue as part of its efforts to ensure a safer, more disciplined and citizen-friendly traffic management system in the capital.
