Vice-president of banned district BCL arrested in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested vice-president of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Rangpur district committee Mohaiminul Rahman Chowdhury Mithun, 28, from his house in the city on Saturday afternoon.
 
He is an accused in a case registered by Kotwali police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) on March 26, 2026, under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009 and the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, a press release of RpMP Media Cell said.
 
Under the instructions and overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) of RpMP, Kotwali police station conducted a raid and arrested Mithun from his residence in the Ganeshpur Club Mour area of the city.
 
The arrested accused was sent to court on the same day, from where he was sent to jail.
