Youth, junior handball teams lose semifinals

DHAKA, Jan 6, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh youth U-18 and junior U-20 handball
teams lost their respect semifinals in the qualifying round of IHF Men's
Handball Trophy 2024-Asia held in Lucknow, the capital of Indian state of
Uttar Pradesh, on Monday.

On the day, Uzbekistan youth handball team beat Bangladesh youth handball
team by 42-22 goals after leading the first half by 18-13 goals in the
semifinal.

In another semis, Uzbekistan junior U-20 handball team defeated Bangladesh
junior handball team by 34-20 goals after leading the first half by 18-9
goals.

Earlier on Sunday last, Bangladesh junior handball team suffered 48-38 goals
defeat to host India after trailing the first half by 24-16 goals.
 
A total of eight teams -- two teams of youth and junior category from four
countries-- are taking part in the meet, organised by International Handball
Federation (IHF).

The participating countries are Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and host
India. The winners of the tournament will directly qualify in the World Cup.
