Men’s, women’s hockey team get reception

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh U-21 men’s and women’s youth hockey teams were given reception at Air Force base at Kurmitola in the capital today.

Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) president and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan was present in the reception ceremony and handed over cash prize of Taka 50,000 and crests to each player, coach, physio and manager of the U-21 men’s hockey team, who qualified to Hockey World Cup for the first time in the history of country’s hockey.

Apart from men’s hockey team, the members of women's under-21 hockey team were also given crest.

In the reception ceremony, the BHF president asked the players to focus more on the game and play well, saying that, “Playing for the country is a great achievement and keeping this reception in front of today, you all make proper train and raise the name of the country.”

He said that they have plans to arrange training for the U-21 hockey team for five to six months before the tournament so that the players can improve the quality of their game.

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Faruque Ahmed, who was present in the reception ceremony, said the players are the ambassadors when they go abroad. They represent Bangladesh and their game and manners reflect the country, he added.
