DHAKA, Feb 16, 2025 (BSS)- Former national pacer Talha Jubair is upbeat about
Bangladesh's chance against India and Pakistan in the upcoming Champions
Trophy, saying that the Tigers can beat both of the sub-continental rivals if
they play well on their day.

"We came close to beat India on several occasions but couldn't finish our
job," Talha, who guided Khulna Tigers team in the BPL recently, told the
reporters. "When we play against India, we have big expectations. Hopefully
we can finish the job this time properly," he added.

Bangladesh though of late dominated India in ODI format, their record against
the neighboruing country in the ICC event is rather unimpressive. The only
victory against India in the ICC tournament came in 2007. In fact
Bangladesh's record against Pakistan is also not so encouraging. Against
Pakistan, they last won in an ICC tournament in 1999.

But Talha believes Tigers have the ability to set a new record.

"It's possible to beat Pakistan. We need to play to our potential," he added.

Bangladesh made history last year by sealing their first-ever Test series win
over Pakistan, having swept them in two-match Test series in Rawalpindi.

While Bangladesh will take on India in Dubai on February 19 to kick off the
campaign, they will face Pakistan in Rawalpindi in February. New Zealand are
the other team in Bangladesh's group, whom they will face off on February 27,
also in Rawalpindi.

Talha stressed upon the requirements of bowling in partnership, which he said
was key to thrive against any opponents.

"It's important to bowl in partnership. You have to keep pressure on them by
not leaking runs even when you can't take a wicket. If you keep the pressure,
you can stifle them," he said.
