DHAKA, April 12, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Women's team will take on Ireland in
their second match of the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers at Gaddafi Stadium in
Lahore, India tomorrow (Sunday).

The match starts at 3pm (Bangladesh Time).

The victory would keep them in good stead to qualify for the ODI World Cup.

Bangladesh made a tremendous start to the tournament with a crushing 178-run
win over Thailand. They had broken a number of records in that match, which
bolstered their confidence further to beat Ireland.

Moreover, they will take the field, taking an absolute upper-hand over the
Irish Women's team, against whom they won last five matches in a row,
including a crushing 154-run victory.

That 154-run victory was their largest ever in WODIs before they broke the
record against Thailand.

Bangladesh compiled a hefty 271-3 in 50 overs against Thailand, their highest
ever total in WODIs-going past the previous best of 252- 4 against Ireland in
Mirpur.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty smashed her maiden WODI century against Thailand -
a rapid 101 off just 80 balls - which made her the fastest Bangladeshi batter
to reach the milestone. Her innings broke the previous record set by Fargana
Hoque Pinky, whose 156-ball century came against India in 2023.

Joty has also broken the record for most runs in boundaries in WODIs for
Bangladesh. She scored 66 runs in boundaries to go past Sharmin Akhter
Supta's 56.

Joty and Sharmin's 152-run partnership is Bangladesh's highest for the third
wicket in WODIs, breaking the record of 127 between Rumana Ahmed and Sharmin.

Bangladesh spinners Fahima Khatun and Janntul Ferdaus took five wickets
apiece, which is the first instance of two bowlers from the same team picked
up five-wicket haul in WODIs as Thailand were bowled out for just 93 in 28.5
overs.
