Raphael scores brace as Abahani post comfortable win in BPL

DHAKA, April 12, 2025 (BSS)- Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto scored a 
brace as Abahani Limited Dhaka beat Dhaka Wanderers Club by 4-1 goals in the 
Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football held at Shaheed 
Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on Saturday.

Apart from Raphael Augusto's two goals in the match forward Suman Reza and 
Captain Mohammad Ridoy supported him with a lone goal each for Abahani 
Limited.

Forward Sakib Bepari netted a lone goal for Dhaka Wanderers Club.

The match was locked goalless at the breather.

Dhaka Wanderers Club fought neck to neck with Abahani making the score sheet 
clean till the first half but after the breather failed to keep the tempo 
conceding three goals in a span of nine minutes.

Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto finally broke the deadlock scoring the 
first goal for Abahani Limited in the 48th minute and Sumon doubled the lead 
scoring the second goal in the 51st minute.

Sakib Bepari pulled one back for Wanderers converting a spot kick in the 55th 
minute.

Ridoy further widened Abahani's margin scoring the third goal in the 57th 
minute while Raphael Augusto sealed the victory scoring his second and fourth 
goal for Abahani Limited in the 83rd minute of the match.

Dhaka Wanderers Club, however, tried their best to stage a fight back in the 
match but they could not score any in the remaining proceeding.

The day's win saw, the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited 
stand second position in the league table with 26 points (one point behind of 
league leader Bashundhara Kings) from 11 matches while Dhaka Wanderers Club 
remained their previous collection of four points playing the same number of 
matches.
  
Earlier, in the first leg, Abahani Limited edged past Dhaka Wanderers Club by 
a solitary goal held at Shaheed Dhirendrnath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
