DHAKA, July 7, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh climbed to ninth spot in the ICC ODI rankings following a 16-run win over Sri Lanka in the second game of the three-match series in Colombo on Saturday.
They had slipped to 10th in the rankings in May for the first time after 18 years following an inconsistent performance in the 50-over cricket, what is considered as their comfortable format.
The win, however, helped Bangladesh take their rating points to 78, overtaking West Indies in the rankings, who have 77 points.
With the victory in the second game, Bangladesh in fact ended their seven-match losing streak in ODIs.
Bangladesh's seven-match losing streak started in November last year, when they lost the third ODI against Afghanistan in Sharjah to lose a three-match series 2-1.
Thereafter they suffered a 3-0 whitewash against West Indies before losing to India and New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
They tasted their seventh straight loss last Wednesday, in the first ODI of a three-match series against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
