DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - About 800 armed force personnel to be sent to Qatar initially for three years under an agreement between Bangladesh and Qatar on deployment of personnel on deputation from the Bangladesh Armed Forces to the Qatar Armed Forces.

Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan and Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai signed the long-awaited agreement today in Doha, said a press release of the Chief Adviser's Press Wing here this evening.

The agreement was the outcome of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus's fruitful diplomacy during his visit to Qatar from April 21-25 this year on the occasion of the "Arthana" conference.

Under the agreement, members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces will get the opportunity to be deployed on deputation in the Qatar Armed Forces.
Though approximately 800 personnel will be sent to Qatar initially, there is potential for increasing this number in the future.

The personnel to be deployed will be appointed for an initial period of three years, and, subject to satisfactory performance, the tenure may be extended up to six years.

According to the release, this agreement has opened a new door for the deployment of skilled personnel in the Qatar Armed Forces and will elevate the existing relationship between the two countries to new heights.

Furthermore, the members from Bangladesh will benefit financially and the Government of Bangladesh will be able to earn a significant amount of foreign currency.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Mohammad Hazrat Ali Khan, delegation members, and concerned officials of the embassy were present at the signing ceremony.
