Bangladesh plays 3-3 draw with Bhutan

DHAKA, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh women's team played out to a 3-3 goal draw with Bhutan in their second match of SAFF Women's Futsal Championship held at Nonthaburi Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand today.

In the day's match, Deki Lhazom put Bhutan ahead early in the 5th minute but the lead lasted for two minutes as Sumaya Matsushima restored the parity for Bangladesh in the 7th minute of the match.

But Bhutan again took the lead scoring two goals in a span of three minutes. Sonam Lhamo scored the second goal in the 27th and third for her team in the 30th minute.

Bangladesh however fought back strongly as skipper Sabina Khatun reduced the margin scoring the second goal for Bangladesh in the 35th minute and Masura Parvin leveled the margin scoring the third goal in the 36th minute of the match.   

With the day's outcome, Bangladesh secured four points from two matches while Nepal bagged two points playing the same number of matches. 

Earlier, Bangladesh made a winning start in the tournament beating India by 3-1 goals in their opening match. Thanks to skipper Sabina Khatun who played a key role behind the Bangladesh victory scoring a brace.

On the other hand, Bhutan played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Pakistan in their opening match. 
 
Bangladesh will play their next matches against Nepal (January 19), Sri Lanka (January 21), Pakistan (January 23) and Maldives (January 25) at the same venue.

The table toppers at the end of all seven rounds of matches will be crowned in the SAFF Women's Futsal champions.
