DHAKA, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Programme Coordinator Minhajul Abedin Nannu believes the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) will provide ideal preparation for the upcoming home ODI series against Pakistan national cricket team, citing the competitiveness of the tournament.

With the Pakistan ODIs set to begin in March, the BCB has decided to organise this year's BCL in a one-day format. The tournament will begin on February 23, featuring four teams-- East Zone, North Zone, South Zone and Central Zone.

"The tournament will be effective in terms of preparation for the Pakistan series," said Nannu, a former Bangladesh captain and chief selector while speaking to reporters today.

"We haven't played much 50-over cricket recently. Since the 50-over format is starting again, it essentially marks the beginning of our preparation for the 2027 World Cup. I believe we are starting with quality cricket, and we expect to see a high standard of competition."

Nannu also spoke on Liton Das, a leading Bangladesh batter who has been going through a patchy form in ODI format.

Despite scoring consistently in T20 cricket, ODI form of Liton Das, who is the captain of T20 format, came to the fore again. With four ducks in his last 10 innings, his form in the format has raised concerns.

However, Nannu remains confident about Liton's ability to bounce back.

"Liton is one of our leading batters. Given the ability he possesses, it's only a matter of time before he makes a strong comeback," he said.

"With the 50-over tournaments beginning, if he regains his rhythm, I'm hopeful he will return to good form soon."

The 12th edition of the BCL will be held in Bogura and Rajshahi from February 23, with the final scheduled for March 3 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
