DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - International Master (IM) Mohammad Fahad Rahman split point with IM Md. Minhaz Uddin in the final round semi-final stage of the Spectrum Bangladesh National Cup Chess held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room today (Wednesday).

IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, playing with the white pieces, defeated FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia. Fahad outplayed Tahsin’s Sicilian Defense and secured victory through precise tactical play at 34th move. 

As a result, their match score now stands at 1–1 game point.

In the other semi-final, IM Manon Reja Neer, also with the white pieces, drew with International Master Md. Minhaz Uddin after a hard-fought battle that lasted 22 moves. Neer faced Minhaz’s Caro-Kann and the game continued the Karpov variation, concluded in a draw, leaving their match tied at 1–1 as well.

The tie-breaking playoff matches will be held tomorrow (Thursday) with  IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman facing FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia while IM Md. Minhaz Uddin meets IM Manon Reja Neer.
