Bangladesh go down 3-2 to Sri Lanka

DHAKA, Apr 3, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Hockey Team suffered a 3-2 goals defeat to Sri Lanka in their second Pool B match of the Men's Asian Games Qualifier 
held in Bangkok, Thailand today (Friday).
 
In the proceeding, Ashraful Islam and Aminul Islam scored one goal each for Bangladesh in the 13th and 49th minute respectively.

Bangladesh pitted in Pool B along with Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan will play their last group match against Uzbekistan on April 6. 

Earlier on Thursday last, Bangladesh beat Chinese Taipei by 4-3 goals in their opening match.

National teams from across Asia are participating in this prestigious tournament for qualification to the Asian Games.

Each team will compete in a round-robin format to determine the semi-finalists. The semifinals will be held on April 9 while the final of the 
tournament is slated for April 10.

The top six teams from this qualifying round will qualify for the Asian Games.

The 2026 Asian Games, also known as 20th Asian Games, will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from the next September 19 to October 4.
