Zakir replaces injured Shadman for 2nd Pakistan Test

DHAKA, May 14, 2026 (BSS)—Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam was ruled out of the second Test against Pakistan after suffering a chest injury.

He sustained the injury during the first Test, which Bangladesh won by 104 runs to lead the two-match series 1-0.

“Shadman took a blow in the chest while taking a catch during the first Test in Mirpur. He has a traumatic contusion of the chest and is in pain. He will not be available for the second Test unfortunately,” national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said.

The BCB said in a release that left-hand batter Zakir Hasan replaced Shadman Islam. The 28-year old, Zakir had last played a Test in November 2024.

The series-deciding second Test is scheduled to start from Saturday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
