DHAKA, June 2, 2026 (BSS)- Wicket-keeper batter Mahidul Islam Ankon struck a sublime century as Abahani Limited secured their sixth straight victory in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL), crushing Gulshan Cricket Club by 173 runs at BKSP-4 ground today.

Electing to bat first, Abahani compiled a hefty 315-5 with Ankon hitting an unbeaten 102. His 95-ball-knock included eight fours and six sixes.

Naimur Rohman then scalped 3-42 to help Abahani wrap up Gulshan innings for just 142 in 32.5 overs.

Ankon led the charge after a decent start from openers Najmul Hossai Shanto and Sabbir Rahman who put on 84 runs for the opening stand.

Shanto who made 37 and Sabbir who added 45 were sent back in consecutive overs as Abahani tasted a mini collapse.

Ankon and SM Meherob who chipped-in-with 41, steadied the innings with 66 runs for the fourth wicket. The wicket-keeper batter later added 115-run with skipper Mosaddek Hossain Saikat after the dismissal of Meherob. Saikat made 43.

Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby then blasted 8 ball-26 runs not out to help the side propel past 300-run mark.

Rakibul Hasan and SM Meherob claimed two wickets apiece to play a perfect foil to Naimur in demolishing Gulshan innings as they came to chase a target that looked improbable for them.

Opener Rahmat Ali was the top-scorer with 30 while Abdur Rahim was the other notable scorer with 20.
