Ministry emphasizing technical and language training for marginalised people:  AZM Zahid

DHAKA, June 2, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain today said the Ministry of Social Welfare has prioritizing technical 
and language training to improve the living standards of disadvantaged and marginalized communities.

"The government is committed to building a humane Bangladesh through the collective efforts of all and so the Social Welfare Ministry emphasizes on 
prioritizing the improvement of the living standard marginalized people by providing them technical and language training," he said.

He made the remarks at a coordination meeting with divisional-level officials at the conference room of the Agargaon Social Services Office here.

Responding media queries, he said the scope of activities under the Family Card programme, Farmers Card programme and the religious sector would be 
expanded in the upcoming budget while allocations for the social safety net sector would be increased.

He also said that grants for the treatment of complex diseases would be doubled by increasing the amount by Taka 50,000.

State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin attended the meeting as special guest and emphasized on adopting new action plans through greater 
coordination to enhance the quality of services.

Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf, additional directors, directors, deputy directors and assistant directors of 
the Department of Social Services and divisional social services offices were present at the meeting, among others.
