DHAKA, June 4, 2026 (BSS) - The girls of Achargaon Uttarpara Government Primary School from Nandail Upazila in Mymensingh made an impressive start in the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament (Girls).

In the tournament's third match, held today at the National Bangla High School Ground in Mirpur, Dhaka, Achargaon Uttarpara Government Primary School defeated Pekurgari Government Primary School of Lalmonirhat District, Rangpur Division, by 1-0 goal.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on this glorious victory by the Nandail girls.

In a congratulatory message, the Member of Parliament elected from the Mymensingh-9 (Nandail) constituency Yasser Khan praised the winning team's players, coaches, and everyone involved.

He wished the young footballers continued success and expressed hope that these girls would one day bring further glory to the country's football scene.

The State Minister said that by defeating the Lalmonirhat district team in the first round of the national competition, the Nandail Upazila team had advanced to the semifinals.

He noted that this achievement was not only a success for one team but also a source of pride and joy for the people of Nandail.

He further stated that the Nandail footballers displayed remarkable courage, skill, and fighting spirit on the field, which was truly commendable.

Their outstanding performance and teamwork were the key factors behind this success.

He added that sports teach the younger generation discipline, leadership, and patriotism. He said that this sporting achievement from Nandail would inspire the development of many more talented athletes in the future.

Expressing optimism, he said that the Nandail Upazila team would continue its winning momentum in the upcoming matches and achieve even greater success at the national level.

In today's match, both teams entertained spectators with exciting attacks and counterattacks during the 50-minute game.

However, the girls of Achargaon Uttarpara Government Primary School ultimately secured victory by scoring the match's only goal.

As soon as the referee blew the final whistle, jubilant celebrations erupted among the supporters who had traveled from Nandail to watch the game.

Earlier, Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon officially inaugurated the tournament.

Representing State Minister Yasser Khan Chowdhury, Md Faridur Reza Sagar attended the match and witnessed the thrilling performance of the Nandail girls.

After the game, he delivered the State Minister's congratulatory message to the victorious team on the field.
