Neer clinches Vezerkepzo Summer GM Chess title

DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS)- International Master Manon Reja Neer of Bangladesh emerged champion in the Vezerkepzo Summer 2026 Grandmaster Chess Tournament that concluded in Budapest, Hungary on Friday.

Neer secured the title with 5.5 points from nine games. However, he narrowly missed earning a Grandmaster norm, which required seven points from nine games in the tournament.

In the ninth and final round, Neer defeated FIDE Master S. Dhananjay of India to seal the championship.

Earlier, in the eighth round, he shared the points with International Master Adelard Bai of Chinese Taipei.

The round-robin tournament featured 10 players from Bangladesh, Belgium, Hungary, India, the Netherlands, Serbia and Chinese Taipei, including three Grandmasters, five International Masters and two FIDE Masters.
