463 held in 24-hour crackdown across Dhaka

DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 463 people and filed 38 cases under an anti-crime operation during the last 24 hours across the capital.

According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the arrestees included 47 suspects from Ramna Division, 32 from Lalbagh, 45 from Wari, 50 from Motijheel, 50 from Tejgaon, 114 from Mirpur, 47 from Gulshan, 64 from Uttara, one by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and 13 by the Detective Branch (DB).

During the operation, police seized 15,364 yaba tablets, 45.58 kilograms of cannabis, one CNG-run auto-rickshaw, one motorcycle, 10 mobile phones, four auto-rickshaw batteries, a knife and a machete. Officers also rescued one victim.

The arrests were made during raids conducted in different police station areas of the capital, with narcotics recovered from several of the suspects.

Legal proceedings against those arrested are underway.
