The yield exceeded initial expectations, highlighting the potential of advanced farming methods in the region.

A field day and discussion meeting under the 'Spice Improved Varieties and Technology Extension Project' was held on Wednesday afternoon at Dakshin Bashuria village of Kushli union.

The event was organized by the Tungipara Upazila Agriculture Office to showcase the benefits of modern cultivation techniques.

Farmers reported significant advantages, including reduced incidence of pests and diseases, lower production costs, and higher yields compared to traditional methods. The demonstration plots attracted considerable attention, generating widespread interest in modern chili farming among local farmers.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Md. Mamunur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), said, "There is no alternative to increasing the production of spice crops to meet the demand for safe food. The right combination of modern technology and improved varieties can transform agriculture into a profitable profession. We aim to replicate the successful model of Tungipara across the entire district."

In his speech, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Rakibul Islam assured farmers of all-round support.
