DHAKA, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) - Election Reform Commission chief Badiul Alam Majumdar today said that free and fair elections are possible only through consensus.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion held this morning at the Gangni Upazila Parishad auditorium in Meherpur.

Badiul Alam Majumdar said that the lower house will be based on constituencies, while the upper house will follow the proportional representation (PR) system. Both have positive and negative aspects, he noted, saying "We believe this arrangement is necessary."

The Hunger Project Bangladesh's PFG, Youth Leader, and local leaders of SHUJAN participated in the event.

During the session, Badiul Alam Majumdar, who is also SHUJAN Secretary, held detailed discussions with the leaders on election system reforms.

Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haidar was also present.
