French Ambassador meets Commerce Adviser

DHAKA, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet met Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat today.

During the meeting, both sides discussed various aspects of trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and France.

The French Ambassador highlighted that the French government has long been committed to strengthening trade relations with Bangladesh and expressed France's interest in increasing investments in the country. 

He particularly emphasized investment opportunities in Bangladesh's pharmaceutical and ICT sectors, said a Commerce Ministry press release.

In response, Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin thanked the Ambassador for France's interest in expanding investment in Bangladesh. He noted that France has been a longstanding trade partner and stressed the potential to further strengthen the partnership through increased trade.

He added that French investments would boost capital inflow into the country, contributing positively to the national economy. He also said that Bangladesh's comparatively lower labour costs and production expenses offer profitable opportunities for French businesses.

Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Additional Secretary (Export) of the Ministry of Commerce, was also present.
