BGB seizes smuggled goods worth Tk 90 lakh in Sylhet

SYLHET, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in an anti-muggling drive seized smuggled goods worth about Taka 90 lakh from different border areas of the district last night.

The anti-smuggling operation was conducted by the BOP in the border areas of Sangram, Bichnakandi, Pratappur, Tamabil, Kalairag, Banglabazar and Sonali Chela in Sylhet and Sunamganj districts under the BGB-48 battalion.

During the drives, BGB seized different types of goods including Indian onions, sarees, sunscreen cream, melon cream, face wash, body spray, sugar, blankets, cumin, betel, chocolate and hemp petals.

Sylhet Battalion Commander Colonel Mohanaz Mulhaq said that the estimated value of the seized goods is Taka 90 lakh. 

Necessary action will be taken as per the rules regarding the seized smuggled goods, the Commander added.
