Stocks extend losing streak

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2025 (BSS) - Stocks today extended its losing streak as the
risk-averse investors preferred to book profit on quick-gaining shares.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, fell by 13.9 points to
settle at 5,113 points as against 5,126 points in the previous trading
session.
 
Meanwhile, market turnover further decreased by 4.3% to a 3-week low of Taka
3.1 billion as against Taka 3.3 billion in the previous session.
 
On the sectoral front, Textile (15.0%) issues exerted the highest turnover,
followed by Pharma (15.0%) and Bank (12.3%) sectors.
 
Most of the sectors displayed dismal returns, out of which Jute (-4.4%),
Ceramic (-3.1%) and IT (2.5%) exerted the most corrections, while Food
(1.1%), Fuel & Power (0.4%) and Telecon (0.3%) exhibited marginal gains on
the bourse today.
 
Out of the 397 issues traded, 123 advanced, 206 declined and 68 remained
unchanged.
 
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on red terrain. The Selective
Categories Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 29.1
and 43.3 points, respectively.
