Stocks maintain green territory

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) – Like earlier, stocks today also maintained green territory despite the majority of scrips experiencing corrections following a short-lived upbeat vibe, as investors seized opportunities in sector-specific issues based on recent corporate declarations.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), edged up by 1.5 points to settle at 5,147 points as against 5,146 points in the previous trading session.

Meanwhile, market turnover slightly increased by 3.0 percent to Taka 4.4 billion as against Taka 4.3 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, Bank (20.4%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (12.8%) and Textile (10.5%) sectors.

Most of the sectors displayed positive returns, out of which Paper (2.6%), Ceramic (1.9%) and Life Insurance (1.7%) exhibited the most gains on the bourse today, while Cement (-1.3%), Services (-0.8%) and Mutual Fund (-0.6%) exerted the most corrections.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 140 advanced, 182 declined and 75 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on green terrain. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose by 14.6 and 30.1 points, respectively.
