BAGERHAT, Feb 06, 2025 (BSS) - For the first time, Bangladesh has imported molasses from Pakistan through Mongla Port.

The Panama-flagged vessel MT Dolphin-19 arrived at Mongla Port this morning, carrying 5,500 metric tons of molasses from Karachi Port, Pakistan. Unloading of the sweet product began this afternoon.

Mongla Port Authority Deputy Director Md. Makruzzaman said the vessel departed from Karachi Port on January 22. The importer, Padma Feed and Chicks Limited, is overseeing the unloading process at Mongla Port.

Once unloaded, the molasses will be transported from Mongla to Baghabari in Sirajganj via road and waterway. From there, it will be distributed to various centers across the country.
