Stocks witness flat

DHAKA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - Stocks today witnessed flat with downward trend of major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges due to price fall mainly in some large-cap securities.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, inched down by 2.9 points to settle at 5,207 points, as against 5,210 points in the previous trading session.

However, investors' continued to show interest in certain Bank stocks, driven by anticipation of upcoming corporate earnings and dividend declarations.

Moreover, mutual funds remained prominent on the top gainer list, riding on persistent pursuit of quick gain opportunities.

Meanwhile, market turnover slightly increased by 6.9% to Taka 4.8 billion as against Taka 4.5 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, Textile (14.6%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (12.8%) and Pharma (12.6%) sectors.

Sectors mostly displayed mixed returns, out of which Mutual Fund (2.8%), Ceramic (1.8%) and Textile (0.7%) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today, while General Institution (-1.2%), Cement (-0.9%) and Financial Institution (-0.8%) exerted the most corrections.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 149 advanced, 186 declined and 62 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a flat session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) edged up by 0.1 points, while All Share Price Index (CASPI) edged down by 1.8 points, respectively.
