Govt to procure 3 cargos LNG, 70,000 MTs fertilizer

DHAKA, April 29, 2025 (BSS) – The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some 3 cargos of LNG and 70,000 metric tons of fertilizer to meet the country’s growing demand.

The approvals came from the 17th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held today at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

The day’s meeting approved a total of 13 proposals.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, the Finance Adviser said that in the day’s purchase committee meeting, there were some proposals for procuring LNG and fertilizer.

The Petrobangla under the Energy and Mineral and Resources Division would procure 3 cargos of LNG from the spot market from Singapore through following international quotation method.

Besides, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer from Saudi Arabia and 30,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer from Russia.
