Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE lost 10.1 points to settle at 4,736 points as against 4,746 points in the previous trading session.
 
Total turnover in the DSE fell further by 15.3 percent (pc) to around 10 month-low of Taka 2.4 billion.
 
On the sectoral front, Bank (14.4 percent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Fuel & Power (14.1pc) and Textile (12.6pc) sectors.
 
Most of the sectors displayed dismal returns, out of which Jute (-2.1pc), Paper (-1.6pc) and General Insurance (-1.2pc) exerted the most correction on the bourse today, while Travel (1.2pc), Mutual Fund (0.6pc) and Fuel & Power (0.5pc) exhibited marginal gains.
 
Out of the 397 issues traded, 99 advanced, 210 declined and 88 remained
unchanged.
 
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on the red zone. The Selective
Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell by 14.7
points and 26.8 points respectively.
