National Pension Authority holds workshop

DHAKA, May 26, 2025 (BSS) - The National Pension Authority held a workshop today at the conference room of the Cabinet Division at Bangladesh Secretariat comprising officials from the Finance Division, Cabinet Division and the National Pension Authority.

Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid spoke at the workshop as the chief guest presided over by Finance Division Secretary Dr Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder.

A total of 86 officials equivalent to the ranks of additional secretary, joint secretary, deputy secretary, senior assistant secretary and assistant secretary attended the workshop.

National Pension Authority member (Finance and Administration) A.Y.M. Ziauddin Al-Mamun gave the address of welcome while another member (Fund Management) M Golam Mostafa made the keynote presentation.

While taking part in the open discussion, the participants highlighted various aspects of the Universal Pension Scheme and provided their valuable suggestions, said a press release.

Speaking at the workshop as the chief guest, Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid said that the Universal Pension Scheme would play an important role in building a dignified future for a huge section of people who are outside of the purview of the social safety nets, said a press release.

Putting emphasis on ensuring effective participation of all in making success this scheme, the Cabinet Secretary said that if such participation can be enhanced through coordination with the field administration, then it would be possible to bring the country's people under a well-organized social safety structure.

Finance Secretary Dr Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder said that through spread of such scheme among the people from all walks of life, it would be possible to ensure future financial and social security for the communities remaining outside of the social safety structure.

The National Pension Authority has been working under the Finance Division to make such scheme more attractive. Such kind of workshop would be helpful to create newer thoughts.
