DHAKA, June 1, 2025 (BSS) – The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will finalize the complete district-wise list of beneficiaries by June 30, aiming to enhance the distribution of essential products to one crore low-income families nationwide.

As part of the process, beneficiaries will be selected, and newly issued Smart Family Cards will be activated for distribution.

These decisions were made at a recent meeting on TCB operations held at the Ministry of Commerce with Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin.

The meeting resolved that TCB-issued Smart Family Cards must be distributed and activated promptly. Any inactive or ineligible cards will be verified and, if necessary, cancelled.

Officials emphasized that the TCB’s subsidized product distribution among low-income groups is a crucial social safety net and a pillar of social justice.

It was decided that legal action will be taken against individuals who have received cards without meeting eligibility criteria.

As of March 17 this year, around 57 lakh Smart Family Cards had been distributed. Of these, 41,51,012 cards have been activated, while approximately 16 lakh inactive cards have been cancelled.

In the next phase, an additional 810,276 new Smart Family Cards have been prepared and sent to the respective district administrations for distribution. Out of these, 388,192 cards have already been activated.

As of May 5, 2025, a total of 49,61,288 Smart Family Cards had been distributed, with activation of 45,39,204 cards.

The meeting also approved measures to quickly activate the remaining 422,084 cards.
