Stocks on DSE down, up on CSE

DHAKA, June 19, 2025 (BSS) - The country's premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX the broad index of the DSE declined by 22.4 points to settle at 4,754 points as against 4,777 points in the previous trading session. 

Meanwhile, trading activities also remained stagnant with total turnover in DSE being low at Taka 3.1 billion. 

On the sectoral front, Food (16.8%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (13.5%) and Bank (12.1%) sectors. 

Sectors mostly displayed dismal returns, out of which Financial Institution (-1.8%), Ceramic (-1.4%) and Life Insurance (-1.3%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today, while Telecom (0.7%) exhibited some gains. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 69 advanced, 254 declined and 74 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange ( CSE), however, settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) slightly advanced by 6.4 points and 1.6 points, respectively.
