Country’s GDP grows 3.69% in FY25

DHAKA, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh’s economy grew by 3.69 percent in the last fiscal year (FY25) driven by moderate performances by the agriculture, industry and services sectors.

According to the latest data by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the GDP growth rate during the 4th or the April to June quarter of the last fiscal year (FY25) was 3.35 percent buoyed by moderate performances by the agriculture, industry and services sectors.

Industrial output reached 4.10 percent during the April-June period of FY25, up from 1.08 percent during the same period of the previous year FY24.

The services sector, which makes up over half of the economy, grew by 2.96 percent in the 4th quarter of FY25, compared with 3.61 percent in the same quarter of the previous year.

The agriculture sector, however, saw a slow growth as it stood at 3.01 percent during this April-June period of FY25, down from the previous year's figure for the same quarter.

According to provisional estimates, growth in the first, second and 3rd quarters of the last fiscal year (FY25) was 1.96%, 4.48% and 4.86% respectively, while in the previous fiscal year (FY24) it was 5.87%, 4.47% and 4.62% respectively.

The country’s GDP growth rate in FY24 was 4.22 percent.
